Smashed or sober?
Is this something you’re used to being asked at breakfast?
This is the question that is posed to you at The Bagel Smashery in Hoboken, NJ. They don’t toast their bagels, they smash ‘em. Or in their words, they “tease the most avantgarde bagel pallet and stimulate the interest of those curiousity seekers.” Whoa. […]

French Toast (continued)
May 21st, 2008
A while back I tried making some Banana Dark Chocolate Stuffed French Toast. It was a pretty good first attempt, but it tasted a little more like a panini as opposed to french toast probably because I didn’t let the bread soak for long enough. The flavor was right but overall it was too crunchy […]
Two reminders
April 26th, 2008
Reminder #1: I had another bagel this morning with Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Spread. Delicious. Have I convinced you to make this yet? I hope so.
It’s disappearing all too quickly!…
Reminder #2: The first edition of The Chocolate Peanut Butter Exhibition has a deadline that quickly approaches! Monday is your last day to enter your […]
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Spread
April 24th, 2008
This might be the best chocolate and peanut butter experiment that’s come out of my kitchen.
Ever want to put something on your bagel like chocolate or nutella but don’t want something quite that sweet? Maybe peanut butter but not quite that heavy? Maybe cream cheese but not quite that plain?
I am faced with this dilemma […]
Rachel Ray’s Peanut Butter Poodle Pancakes
March 30th, 2008
Some people love Rachel Ray, and some don’t. I find her recipes to be hit and miss and I definitely don’t believe that you can get most of them done in 30 minutes or less, mostly because I don’t have a crew that pre-washes my veggies for me, or organizes my cabinets. Her extremely bubbly […]
Peanut Butter Brick Toast with Chocolate Syrup
March 26th, 2008
You can place an order for this brick of french toast deliciousness at Guppy Teahouse in Cerritos, CA. I live nowhere near that, which is just not fair. Winnie, the lucky photographer and consumer says “the toast is a good two inches in height and crunchy toasty on the outside but soft on the inside”. […]
Not your mama’s oatmeal
March 3rd, 2008
This is my favorite kind of oatmeal. It makes one serving and really doesn’t take much longer than one of those instant packs, especially considering the reward you get when you taste a spoonful. With banana, peanut butter, chocolate and even a sprinkle of chili powder, this is no ordinary porridge. Beware, Goldilocks.
Recipe after the […]
White Chocolate Peanut Butter Panini
February 22nd, 2008
Being that the filling in this sandwich is so soft, it’s best to use a hearty bread for a bit of contrast of textures. But if you can’t get your hands on a crusty italian bread from the bakery, one of the nuttier breads from the grocery store will do nicely as well. Try a […]
Great with a glass of milk…
February 20th, 2008
Wanting chocolate for breakfast, but also wanting something filling / nutritious is a daily battle for me. Most days I just end up mixing some cocoa krispies in with my cheerios for breakfast. And when that proves not to be enough chocolate, I have a bit of whatever chocolate bar I have laying around. Because […]
